Russell LeRoy Norum passed away after an illness caused by a stroke, on February 5, 2013, at the Village Health Center, Indianola, IA. He was born on November 26, 1915, in Halstad, MN, to Peter and Marie (Larson) Norum and the last surviving sibling of four. Russ is survived by companion, Juanita Bower; one daughter, Diana Lee of Charlotte, NC; three grandsons, Kipling and wife Sandy, Barton, and Brian and wife Kim; two great granddaughters, Caroline and Julia; and two great grandsons, Alex and George. Russ graduated from Halstad High School 1936. After serving four years with the US Air Corps, he worked for Dallas Aviation School as a link trainer supervisor. He retired from United Airlines, after 36 years as a supervisor of flight simulator operators. Russ had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed many sports like baseball, basketball, bowling, hunting and fishing. He had a passion for golf, having 13 holes-in-one. He worked at a golf pro-shop instructing seniors in basic golf. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Village, 1203 North "E" Street, Indianola, IA, 50125.
