Update: A graveside service and interment of ashes for Russell and Mary Long will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2021 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Indianola.

Russell I. Long, 94, passed away December 10, 2020.  Russ, the son of Earl and Hattie Long, was born on March 15, 1926 in Clarke County, Iowa.  He graduated from Indianola High School and Simpson College. He was in the Army and served in Europe during WWII.

Russ lived in Indianola most of his adult life with his wife, Mary.  They raised 3 children, Teresa, Charles, and Thomas.  He held several jobs but his last and longest was as Indianola City Clerk.

He was preceded in death by both parents and his loving wife Mary.  He is survived by daughter, Teresa Long, Arlington, VA; and sons, Charles (Lynn) Long, Indianola and Thomas Long, La Mesa, CA; grandchildren Travis Long, Chase Long, Shelby Long; step-grandchildren, Kip (Gail) Fennelly, Cami (Kyle) Eslick, Brannon (Cassandra) Hilton, Tara (Jesse) Miller; nine step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Village and the numerous medical personnel who helped Russ for the last decade.
