Mrs. Wood was born in Cylinder in northwestern Iowa. She was a homemaker and had worked part time for National Handycraft Co. in Des Moines in the order processing department and also for Look Magazine. She had lived in Indianola and Des Moines area most of her life where she was a member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church and the Rebekah Lodge # 188 in Des Moines. She was an accomplished seamstress, rose gardener and loved family gatherings.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria (James) Jones of Pekin, IL; sons, William (Nancy) Wood of West Plains, MO, and Thomas (Trudie) Wood of Indianola; 7 grandchildren, Ellen (Dan) McMillin, Annette (Keith) Anderson, Tim Jones, John (Renee) Wood, Michelle (Jason) Nalepa, Julie Wood and Jill Wood; 4 great-grandchildren, Sean McMillin, Michael McMillin, Lexi Wood and Kylie Barbee. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald R. Wood in September of 2004, her parents and 2 sisters Florence Nelson and Helen Drumm.

Visitation will be held 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2, at Overton Funeral Home where the family will be present to greet friends from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.. Memorials may be shared with the family in care of Ruby M. Wood.
