ROSE M. GODSELL Indianola Rose M. Godsell was born in Windsor, Canada on January 20, 1917. She resided in the area of Detroit, MI. This is where she married and raised her family. For many years she was employed by Awrey Bakery in the capacity of Manager and Assistant Manager. She enjoyed dancing and working in the garden. When her children were grown she moved to Florida where she remained for around 30 years. With failing health her children moved her to Iowa where she became a resident of Westview Care Center in Indianola, IA. While at Westview, she enjoyed all activities. She was a member of the Red Hats and the Bell choir. She also enjoying winning at Bingo and the numerous activities that Westview offered. She loved spelling games. She had won a spelling bee when she was still in school. Rose is survived by her three children, Robert of Stafford Springs, CT, Blanche of Monterey, TN and Donna of Des Moines, IA; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley, Joan, Mary-Lou; and brother, Robert. She was preceded in death by her husband Ellis Godsell, parents Otto and Mary Behrendt, and brothers John, Henry and Richard Behrendt. Rose died Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Westview Care Center in Indianola at the age of 95 years. She will be cremated and her ashes will join her husband's in the Atlantic Ocean. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
