Obituary

Ronald W. Lenninger, 77, passed away peacefully in his home December 6 th , 2022. "Ronnie" was born in Washington, IA to Robert Lenninger and Opal Stone (Gardner).

Ronnie joined the U.S. Navy in 1965 and served on the USS Shangri-La (CV-38) from 1966-1969. He worked as an interior communications specialist during that time on ship. He was a proud Navy veteran. After returning home from service, he met Eileen Nape in 1970 and they were married in 1972. That same year, they moved to Indianola and have been here ever since. This past summer they celebrated 50 years of marriage together.

Ronnie started working for Northwestern Bell in 1970 as a telephone lineman, until he retired in 2002. He often made the joke that he has been in every house in Warren County. In 2004, he went to work part-time at O'Reilly's as an auto parts driver, until 2019.

He loved going to auctions and swap meets. Ronnie was a great cook and was always looking for new recipes to try. He spent many hours helping his wife grow and establish her business; he could often be found in the back of the store working on a new project.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen; sisters-in law, Suzi Kimpel, Kathy (Tom) Meyer, and Maggie (Al) Antoni; nieces and nephews, Nikki (Mike) Lindquist, Jackie (Andrew) Meyer, Kali (Jimi) Martin, Megan and Mitchell Meyer; 3 great-nieces; and 3 great-nephews.

No services will be held at this time. His family appreciates all those that have reached out and given their condolences. Donations can be made in his name to Kiya Koda Humane Society.
