Ronald William
Alexander
November 8, 1943 — June 14, 2026
Indianola
Ronald William Alexander, 82, of Indianola passed away peacefully at home Sunday, June 14, 2026 in Indianola.
Ronald lived life with a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the simple joys that came with it. An avid fisherman and hunter, he spent countless hours fishing local ponds and the South River and hunting pheasants, quail, and raccoons. Some of his most cherished memories were made on fishing trips to Canada with family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and a love of the sport. He also enjoyed camping close to home and traveling to explore new places, with Niagara Falls remaining one of his favorite destinations.
A talented and hardworking craftsman, Ronald excelled in construction and took great pride in building homes from the ground up. If someone needed a helping hand with a remodel or repair, Ronald was often the first person to show up.
Ronald was known for his larger-than-life personality. He was ornery, honest, and never one to sugarcoat his opinions, but those who knew him best understood that he would do anything for the people he cared about, and was truly the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back.
He was a devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Iowa State University football teams with memorabilia decorated throughout his home. As a Ford enthusiast, he would often race and tease his brother, a loyal Chevy buff.
Ronald was a true foodie with a well-known sweet tooth. One of his favorite companions was his beloved pet bird, Tiki, who shared his love of treats. Together, they could often be found enjoying a pumpkin spice malt.
More than anything, Ronald will be remembered for his sarcastic sense of humor, his love of adventure, his willingness to help others, and the countless memories he created with family and friends. His stories, laughter, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ronald is survived by his son, Kirk (Brenda) Alexander; daughters, Kelly (Gary) Wilkins, Kim Boyce; grandchildren, Adam, Jessica, Ashley, Azariah, Angel, Zechariah (Dawnishia); great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Briella; step-children; Stacie (Bret) Lawler, Tim (Shawna) Hunt; brother, Junior (Candy) Alexander; and multiple nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his longtime partner, Cheryl Alexander; parents, Horace and Fern Alexander; and his brothers and sisters.
Memorials in memory of Ronald may be given to the Iowa Heart Foundation.
In accordance with his wishes, Ronald will be cremated, and no services are planned at this time.
