Ronald John Shaffer, 70, passed away on November 10, 2009. He was born and raised in Dallas Center, until his marriage to Donna Ricke in 1962. He leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Donna Ricke (Watson); son, Ronald Ray "Jake" (Dianne); daughter, Ronda "Runt" Harrell (Howard); mother, Elizabeth Ripley; 6 grandchildren, Kile, Kylee Henderson (Justin), Kansas, Laramie, Clayton, Jamilee and Dakota; 2 great grandchildren, Rhaina and Carter; 2 sisters, Pat Kuhl (Roger) and Linda Robinson; 2 brothers, Richard, W. and Jim (Rhonda).

He was preceded in death by an infant brother Curtis Dwight and his father John C. Shaffer.

Ron graduated from Dallas Center and grew up in the Church of the Brethren and was in the Iowa National Guard for 8 years. He was a Service Manager of various car dealership's for over 42 years and was an Appaloosa Horse Breeder & Showman for 38 years. He raised and showed many Regional, National and World Champions, receiving many medallions and awards.

After cremation a memorial and luncheon will be held in honor of Ron's memory on November 14th from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Lorimor community building, Lorimor, Iowa.
