Rolland Rasmussen, 62, passed away in his home on Thursday, November 4. Rolland was born in Yankton, SD October 17, 1959 and spent most of his life in the Des Moines area. He lived in a host home with his good friend, Robert, and long term care taker Jean Marie Vianney Sekamana, they lived as a family unit in West Des Moines.

Due to intellectual developmental disability and autism, he was placed in foster care in Pleasant Hill from 1966 to 1976.  Upon the death of Mrs. Hanson, he became a resident of Woodward State Hospital School through 1989.  He was in residential care in Des Moines following, served by Mosaic since 1999.

He worked at Link Associates.  Rolland enjoyed puzzles, hugging and carbonated beverages.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Kersey and his father Donald Rasmussen.  He is survived by his brother, David (Monica) Rasmussen, sister Donna (Joe) Cambre, step-father, John Kersey, step-sisters, Joni (Keith) Shelton and Jane Zwer, nieces, Heather (R. J.) Beem, Melissa Cambre, Rose Rasmussen and nephew, Hunter Cambre.  Rolland was a regular and steady presence for his parents and family.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Burial will follow services in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to Mosaic of Central Iowa.
