Services for Roger B. Williams, 92, of Indianola, Iowa, who passed away Friday, October 26, 2007 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the Pleasantville Church of Christ.  Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services.  Burial with military rites will follow in the Pleasantville Cemetery.

Dad will always be remembered by his children and friends for his quick wit, story telling ability, personal charm, loyalty and clear thinking in a crisis.

Roger was born on September 26, 1915 in Swan Township northeast of Pleasantville on the farm of his parents, George David and Julia Mae Stubbs Williams; one of three children including sisters Thelma Williams Kauffman and Ruth Williams Finn.  He graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1933 and attended Iowa State Teachers College, now Northern Iowa University, in 1935 and 1936.  In 1937, he was married to Jean Kurtz of Knoxville from which Julia Ann and Jerry Williams were born.  He served with the 34th (Red Bull) Infantry Division throughout the North African and Italian Campaign.  He was wounded in the Atlas Mountains in North Africa in 1944.  Upon discharge from the army, he married Vivian Marie Eyerly of Winterset on November 6, 1944.  Subsequently, he worked as a contact man for the Veteran's Administration and for multiple insurance companies including State Auto, Universal Life and Northwestern National as a Production Manager.  Subsequent to retirement, Roger and Vivian traveled extensively in Mexico and Central America while living in Kerrville, Texas and Glenwood and Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

Roger leaves his wife of 62 years and three children, Julia Weaver of Burleson, Texas, and Jerry and Jim Williams of Kansas City, Missouri.
