Funeral services for Robert D. Runyan, 80, who died Tuesday, May 6, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines from complications sustained in a motorcycle accident on April 22, 2008, will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with the Rev. John W. Long officiating.  Burial with Military Rites will be held in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Bob was born in Milo, Iowa and had lived in Indianola most of his life.  He was a retired over-the-road trucker and a member of the Teamsters.  He enjoyed camping, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He also enjoyed motorcycling and at the age of 79 he road his motorcycle to California.

Surviving are his children Rick (Jacci), Mike, and Randy (Michelle) Runyan and Kay (Dave) Morey all of Indianola; sister, Marilyn Runyan of Des Moines; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Runyan in 2003; his parents, Charlie and Inez Runyan; and a brother Stanley Runyan.     Visitation will be held 3 – 8 p.m. Friday, May 9 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6 – 8 p.m. to greet friends.  Memorials may be given to Mercy Hospice House in Johnston, Iowa.
