Robert Earl "Red" Mock, 80, son of James Orville and Katie Lynn New Mock, was born at home March 12, 1928 in Indianola, Iowa and passed away December 4, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Sixty years ago on September 11,1948, he was united in marriage to Lila Jean Hickman.  To this union were born 2 children, Mrs. Cindy S. Mock Kretzmeier of Indianola and Miss Diana L. Mock of Des Moines.

"Red" was educated in the Indianola school system and Simpson College.  He played football for Simpson and the Des Moines Warriors.  He followed in the family tradition as an automotive and large equipment mechanic.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, children, son-in-law, James Kretzmeier, grandson, Jason Kretzmeier; brother, James Junior Mock of Mason City; half sister, Mary Cates of Lakewood, California; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Lila June Tufts.

Services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 9 at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola of which he was a member.  Cremation will follow services.  Visitation will be held 5 – 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 9 at the First United Methodist Church prior to services. Memorials may be given to the John Stoddard Cancer Center.
