Robert Allen Brown, 53, of rural Martensdale, Iowa, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at his home. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Center Chapel United Methodist Church, west of Indianola. The visitation will be prior to services from noon to 2 p.m. at the church. Rob was born on November 24, 1959 in Knoxville, Iowa to Jack and Carolyn (Morrison) Brown. He spent his childhood living in rural Warren County around the Martensdale and St. Marys area with his sister and brother, Rhonda (Conner) and Randy. In 1979, Rob married Brenda Rudolf, built a home outside of Martensdale, and they spent 27 years together. As a young man, he became a Mason and belonged to the lodge in New Virginia. Rob had three children: Amanda, Kasey, and Robert Allen, as well as one grandchild, Madelynn, born to his middle daughter, Kasey. Rob spent most of his career as a truck driver, but also worked many years as a welder, farmer, and tradesman. Rob treasured his family and was very proud of his children. He loved the fact that all of his children are following in his grandmother's footsteps to become teachers. He also took much pride in being a grandfather. Rob was a lover of the outdoors; fishing and hunting were among his favorite pastimes. Farming and livestock were also a passion of his. Throughout the years, Rob enjoyed helping his children with their 4-H livestock and sporting events. His children and grandchild were truly his pride and joy. Rob is survived by his parents, sister, brother, three children, one grandchild, three nephews, and one niece. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Cleo (McMannis) Morrison and Vess and Edna (Brodine) Brown.
