Services for Ricky Dwayne Stump, 69, who passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, in Indianola, will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, IA.
Ricky Dwayne Stump was born December 15, 1948 in Osceola, Iowa, to Dale and Dorothy Stump. He graduated from Martensdale/St. Marys High School in 1967. He married Janet Ballinger in 1968. In September 1968, they welcomed their first child, Sheri Annettee. Ricky Dwayne Jr. was born in October, 1971.
Rick worked for Stone Container/Great Plains Bag Company the majority of his working life.
Rick enjoyed boating, camping, skiing, raising horses and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed playing sports with his children.
Rick is survived by his two children, Sheri Buttrey (John Delp) and Ricky (Tamara). His grandchildren Corey, Cassandra and Caitlin Buttrey and Mallory, Shelby, Lexi and Linzi Stump, great grandchildren Eastyn Swain, Ariya Goodrich and LilyAnn Hodges, his sister Carolyn (Lee) Decker and brother James (Theresa) Stump. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Dorothy.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday March 21 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
