Richard Soper, 75, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 1 at Overton Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow services in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter.

Richard or "Dick" as those who knew him was a unique and interesting person with a passion for trading, selling or buying pickup trucks, always looking for the next "Good Deal." He loved to customize his trucks with chrome, always showing his attention to detail and personal touch. He had a soft spot for his donkey, Taco. He loved going to livestock auctions to see what deal he might find on a new horse. He was passionate in anything horse related.

His gentle and kind nature, along with his love for coffee trips to the local Casey's, shows he enjoyed simple pleasures and valued genuine connections with people. Those who had the opportunity to know him were fortunate to experience his presence and friendship.

Overall, his character was a blend of adventurous spirit, passion for trading, and an appreciation for the small joys in life. He left a positive impact on those around him and will be remembered fondly by those who were lucky enough to have him in their lives.

Richard is survived by his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Audrey Soper.

Memorials may be made to the Heal House in his name.
