Services for Richard E. Freeman, 73, who died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at home, will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, December 20 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Cremation will follow services.

Richard was born in Table Rock, NE and moved to Indianola in 1956 to a 100 acre farm with 18 acres in apples called Freeman Apple Orchard.  He and his wife farmed for 40 years accumulating over 1000 acreas before moving into Indianola in November of 1995.  After retiring, he worked for the Cumming and Happy Apple Orchard. Combined with his own orchards and others, Richard had successfully picked and grown apples for over 50 years. He also worked for the Indianola Sports Association and the Indianola Little League as the ground supervisor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy and parents, Edwin and Uarda Freeman.  He is survived by his children, Bill (Cheri) Freeman, Dennis (Nancy) Freeman and Sharon (Ron) Bowlin all of Indianola, Richard (Ranae) Freeman and Susan (Jeff Stockbauer) Freeman of Des Moines; his twin brother, Rob Freeman and brother, Tom Freeman both of Table Rock, NE; 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 p.m., Friday, December 19 at Overton Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m.  Memorials may be given to the family in his name.
