Obituary

DR. RICHARD W. ADAMS Des Moines Dr. Richard W. Adams was born March 9, 1937 in Keota, Iowa to George W. and Marvel P. Adams and passed away February 17, 2011 in Des Moines, Iowa. He attended the Keota Public Schools and received his B.A. in 1959 and his M.D. in 1962 from the University of Iowa where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha and the Honor Medical Society. He served as a General Medical Officer in the United States Army from 1962 to 1966 and then served his Pathology Residency from 1966 to 1970 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Dr. Richard W. Adams was a renowned Surgical Pathologist from 1970 to 1995 at Iowa Methodist Hospital and past president of Iowa Association of Pathologists. He was an artist and a devoted Iowa Hawkeye Fan. He is survived by his daughters, Leslie Renner of Norwalk, Jennifer Brown and Allison (Kenney) Pryce both of Des Moines; granddaughters, Abigail and Hannah Swift of Des Moines; half brother, Bill Arnold of Salt Lake, Utah; and half sister, Jean Arnold Dawson of Great Falls, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled at this time. Memorials may be given to the Animal Rescue League in Des Moines.
