Services for Richard L. Ackerman, 73, who passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Richard LeRoy Ackerman was born August 6, 1942 in Rockwell City, Iowa to David and Anna (Ehmen) Ackerman..

Richard was married to Sherry Ackerman on October 27, 1966 and to this union one son, Philip was born.

Richard worked as a custodian for Indianola schools over 20 years and enjoy being around the kids.  He was a Sunday school bus driver for years and served on the board of two churches. He loved Nascar. His favorite driver was Jeff Gordon.  He loved his family and loved his S10 pickup.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry; son, Philip (Karen) Ackerman; brother,  David "Bud" Ackerman and sister, Deloris Gillette.

Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present 5 to 7 p.m. to greet friends. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation or New Beginnings Nazarene Church, Indianola.
