Rex Phillips, 54, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021, in Indianola, IA. A Public Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the American Legion Post #165, 105 West 1 st St., Indianola, IA. Masks are required.
Rex was born to Maynard Phillips and Linda Adams in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 20, 1966. He grew up around the Indianapolis area, where he often attended church at the Chapel Glen Church of Christ. Rex graduated from Avon High School in Avon, Indiana in 1985. After graduating, he worked as a CNC machinist for a local business. Later, he started work at the Goodwin Tucker Group as a restaurant appliance repairman, and then went on to work in their information technology and computer programming department.
On July 23, 1995, Rex welcomed his first daughter, Cassidy, into the world. He welcomed his second daughter, Bethany, on April 7, 1997. He married Dee Dyer on December 25, 2015.
Rex had a strong love for his family, friends, pets, and nature. Rex enjoyed every chance that he got to spend time with his loved ones and cherished sharing exciting moments with others. One of Rex's greatest joys in life was just spending time in nature, enjoying the beauty of God. He loved being able to go on walks, motorcycle rides, and mushroom hunting. Another great joy of his was growing a variety of plants. He had several terrariums where he was able to express his green thumb. His love for others always shined through, and many will remember the impact that he had on their lives.
Rex is survived by his wife, Dee Dyer; children, Cassidy (Adam) Purdy, Bethany (Kirk) Ford, Anna (Mark) McCleskey; grandchildren, Judah Purdy, Mary McCleskey; sister, Rhonda Green; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maynard Phillips and Linda Bown.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family in his name.
