Obituary

Regi Dale Lash passed away peacefully at home on January 4, 2010 after a long battle with cancer.  Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 7, at Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola Iowa 50125 with burial following in the Wallace Cemetery, Wick, Iowa.

Born in Indianola April 3, 1952 to Dale and Doris Lash, he was a life long resident of Warren County, graduating from Martensdale-St. Marys High School.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deb; sons, Sean of Des Moines and Cory of Chelsea; granddaughter, Brittney of Cedar Rapids; mother, Doris; sisters, Connie (Mike) Cox, Sheila (Greg) Hraha, and Tish (Tom) O'Mara; and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his father Dale.

During high school he enjoyed working for Adam's Bros. in Martensdale, pumping gas and doing mechanic work.  After his marriage on August 7, 1970 to Debbie Gibbons, he worked at Kayot Inc. and Armstrong Tire before settling into his career at Consolidated Supply in Des Moines where he retired in 2004.

After his father's death in 2001, he enjoyed helping his mom with the cattle which he continued after retirement, as well as working with the Bruere's in their family farming operation.

He loved to hunt and fish and always seemed to have a great time on the many hunting and fishing trips with his friends.  He also enjoyed those Saturday and Sunday afternoon card games with the guys.

His greatest joy was his family. Even during his illness, if at all possible, he still wanted to watch his granddaughter, Brittney play softball.  He and Deb traveled to watch her play ball and enjoyed being welcomed in to the Cedar Rapids Blue Devil family.

He was a friend to all and will be truly missed by all those that were fortunate enough to know him.

Visitation with family present will be held 5 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 6 at the St. Marys Hall in St. Marys, IA.  Memorials may be made to the Martensdale or St. Marys Fire and Rescue Departments.
