A visitation with family present for Rebecca Sue McGill, 72, of Indianola, who passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024 in Iowa City, will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2024 at Overton Funeral Home.  Private graveside services will follow in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to fellowship and a luncheon at the Indianola Elks Club following the private family committal service.

Rebecca Sue (Beckey) LaPlaunt McGill was born August 16th, 1951 in Clinton Iowa to Bob and Agnes LaPlaunt.  She was Welcomed into the family by three older brothers Jim, Tim and Greg, whom she loved to tag-a-long with, wearing her cowboy hat, boots, and toy guns. Her family moved to Osceola in 1956 where her sister, Robyn and brother Barry joined the family.

Beckey's first loves in life were her Boston Terrier, Skippy, and her pony and horses.  Beckey loved riding and caring for her horses and performing with Doctor Paul and his Drill team, as well as Barrel racing.

Beckey and her loving husband, Richard, were married in 1998.  She was known best for her kind and caring heart. Her proudest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and husband. She always made sure to create a warm and welcoming home, filled with laughter and love. Beckey had a knack for turning ordinary moments into cherished memories, whether it was through her delicious homemade meals, her thoughtful gifts, or her comforting presence during tough times. Beckey would like to be remembered as a wonderful grandmother, enthusiastic slots gambler, and animal lover.

Beckey is survived by her husband Richard McGill; children, Lance (Sherri) Ripperger, Mathew (Julie) McGill; grandchildren, Elizabeth Damara Laws, Camren (Jacy) Ripperger, Kylie Ripperger, Cassady McGill and Gracelynn McGill; siblings, Tim (Mary Lou) LaPlaunt, Greg (Margaret) LaPlaunt and Robyn Baughman.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford "Bob" and Agnes (Gould) LaPlaunt; brothers, Jim LaPlaunt and Barry LaPlaunt; step-daughter, Tara Laws.

Memorials in memory of Beckey may be given to Kiya Koda Humane Society.
