Raymond Thaddeus Songayllo, 92, of Indianola, passed away August 10, 2023. Raymond was born in Chicopee, Massachusetts on August 23, 1930 to Katarzyna and Alexander Songayllo.

After High School Raymond served in the U.S. Army.  He later entered Northwestern University as a music student, graduating in 1959, earning a Bachelor and Masters of Music degree in piano. There he met and married his wife, of many years, Mary Ann Seaman of Chicago. They settled down in Indianola, Iowa in 1967 where he began his career as a Music Professor at Simpson College. During this time, Ray and Mary Ann raised two children, Paul and Ilona. He went on to retire from Simpson College in 1985. Raymond was accredited and a well renowned pianist that continued to perform, lecture, compose, and adjudicate all over the United States, Europe, and South Africa. He was also a proud faculty member of the Des Moines Symphony Academy.

Raymond like traveling, spending time with his family, his music group and many friends.

He is survived by his son, Paul Songayllo, of Indianola, his daughter, Ilona (Songayllo) Nunez, grandsons Caden Nunez , Kaleb Nunez, Tabor Nunez., great-grandson Theo Nunez and brother Fred Songayllo of Plattsburg, New York. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Mary Ann Songayllo, and his brother Alex Songayllo.

A commemoration of Family and close Friends will be held in the near future to remember and honor our beloved Raymond.
