Obituary

Services for Ray Eugene Stroud, 88, of Indianola, who passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025 will be held 10 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2025 at Overton Funeral Home with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Ray was a member of the Eagles, Norwalk Lions and the Local 177. He worked construction with Allied from 1972 to 1996 when he retired. He enjoyed dancing, camping, parties and his family and friends.

Ray lived life to the fullest, filling every day with laughter, energy, and purpose. He was the hardest working person we knew, dedicated not only to his family and work but also to making every moment count. He expected those around him to give their best too, inspiring others to work as hard and with as much pride as he did. Ray loved to travel, always eager for the next adventure, and never turned down a chance to play games or join in on any and all activities. His home was a gathering place for friends and family, where everyone was welcomed with warmth, laughter, and usually a good story or two. He deeply loved his grandchildren and extended that love to other children as if they were his own. Ray was truly the life of the party, his joy and spirit brought people together and made every occasion brighter. His legacy of love, hard work, and fun will live on in all who were lucky enough to know him.

Ray is survived by companion, Debbie Baldwin; children, Cleo (Ann) Stroud, Carolyn (Frank) Irwin,  Carmen Stroud and Candy (Kurt) Cronbaugh; siblings, Helen Paschall and Keith (Penny) Moore; grandchildren, Jessica Stroud, Adam (Jennette) Stroud, Nicole (Michael) Pringle, Iain (Sarah) Irwin, Shirley (Nathan) Laska, Levi (Mackenzie) Meling, Jonie (Lee) Brewer, Raelyn (Trevor) Wharton, Christopher (Sarah) Darr, Allan (Tiffany) Drone, Danielle (Chris) Schley and Ryan (Jenn) Cronbaugh; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Stroud and wife, Merry Stroud; parents, Cleo and Gladys Stroud; sister Carolyn Stroud; and brother, Walter Stroud.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Overton Funeral Home.  Memorials in memory of Ray may be given to Fellowship Community Church in Norwalk, Iowa.
