Randy was born to Eldon Gould and Beverly (Rusco) Gould in Corning, Iowa the eldest of six children on October 31, 1952.  Randy grew up in Des Moines where he attended elementary, junior high and Hoover High School.  The family moved to Clarinda, Iowa to open a Western Auto Store and Randy attended his senior year and graduated from Clarinda High School in 1970.

Following graduation, he returned to Des Moines and attended the American Institute of Business majoring in sales and business practices.  At AIB he met Barbara Jean Anderson and they were married August 19, 1973 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Alta, Iowa and began their life together in Pleasant Hill. To this union, one son, Neal Gould, was born.

Randy was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed each turkey, deer or elk bow hunting season, as well as fishing, and participating on a trap shooting league.  Being outdoors was his favorite past time and restoring his '57 Chevy was an ongoing project. Additional outdoor activities included coaching youth soccer and in later years he enjoyed cheering on his granddaughter's soccer games.

Randy was an active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and supported the ministry of the congregation as president, serving as Elder and on many boards over the years, and participating in all of the life of the congregation.

In his active years, he and Barb enjoyed traveling around the United States and enjoying many fishing trips to Canada.
