Private Family services for Ramona Arlene Butler, 88, of Indianola, IA, who passed away from this life that we shared, December 1, 2020, at The Village in Indianola. Livestreaming will begin 1 p.m., Saturday, December 5 on Ramona's obituary page of Overton Funeral's website at www.overtonfunerals.com. Burial will be in the Liberty Center Cemetery, Liberty Center, IA.
Ramona was born on February 25, 1932 to Howard and Flossie (Pennington) Heemstra of Liberty Center. Of this family Ramona was the sixth out of eight children.
After graduating from high school, Ramona was united in marriage to Walter L. Butler on July 3, 1949 and they were married for 65 years. To this union Walt and Ramona raised 3 children, Larry, Steven and Karen.
Ramona was a homemaker and bookkeeper, while Walt operated the Phillips 66 Station. She then worked at Peoples Bank in the motor bank 15 plus years as a teller until retiring. Also, she was a member of Eastern Star Chapter #338 of Indianola for over 50 years.
Ramona was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. We have many memories and memories are our treasure. Those memories will live on with us as she will be greatly missed.
Surviving Ramona include her son, Steve Butler of Sioux City; daughter, Karen (Rod) Goodrich of Indianola; grandchildren, Angela Goodrich, Christopher Goodrich, Pam (Junior) Louis, Jason (Cassie) Butler, Allen (Lacy) Butler and Ben (Alexis) Butler; 13 great-grandchildren, Riley and Reece Goodrich, Camia , Kedan, Chastity and Kwei Louis, Blake and Jaxson Butler, Ellie, Jayden, Evelyn and Taylin Butler and Sophia Butler; sisters-in-law, Edith Heemstra and Marilyn Heemstra.
She was preceded into eternal life by her loving husband, Walt; parents, Howard and Flossie Heemstra; son, Larry Dean Butler; and siblings John Heemstra, Marjorie Hadley, Lois Duncan Lawyer, Orlan Heemstra, Harold Heemstra, Merrill Heemstra, Neil Heemstra and Joyce Heemstra .
