Duane was born in Warren County, Iowa and farmed northeast of Indianola in the Farmers Chapel farming community. He was a member of Farmers Chapel United Methodist Church; board member of the Mid-America Dairymen for many years; past member of the Warren County Fair Board; past member of the Indianola Evening Lions Club; and a long time Guernsey exhibitor at the Iowa State and other county and state fairs.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children, Dr. Dennis (Kristi) Woodruff of Carlisle, Roger (Jody) Woodruff of Indianola, Diane (Ward) Roscoe of Indianola, and Michael (Teri) Woodruff of Ankeny; brother, LeRoy (Patsy) Woodruff of Indianola; 7 grandchildren, Ryan (Melanie) Woodruff, Kendra (Steve) Corbin, Paige and Blake Woodruff; and Scott (Mindi) Woodruff and Jason and Sarah Roberts; 3 great-grandchildren, Cody and Kelsey Woodruff and Cale Corbin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Retha Woodruff and sister, Dorothy Rizzo.

Visitation will be held from 2 – 7 p.m., Friday, March 2 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to his church or Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation.
