A Celebration of Life for Phyllis L. Mort, 84 who passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home, will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, February 18, at the Grandview Church of Christ 2736 Hubbell Ave. Des Moines, IA.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the Blanket Fund at the church.

Phyllis Lillian (Demi) Mort was born in Spangler, PA., on October 11, 1934. She was a graduate of the Conamaugh Valley School of Nursing, Johnston, PA and worked as a Surgical Nurse in Harrisburg, PA till she married in 1960. Phyllis had been a resident of Indianola since 1974 when she and her family moved here after her husband retired from the Navy and took a job that placed the family in the Midwest.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James Edwin Mort, a Twenty year Naval Veteran and retired Engineer; her parents, Philip Charles Demi, a Coal Miner and Hilda Virgie (Littell) Demi, and her five siblings, Charles Earnest Demi, Elizabeth Anne Demi, Maxine Carole (Demi) Griffith, John Edward Demi, and Donald Leroy Demi and two stillborn sisters.

Phyllis' remaining family consists of her daughter, Susan Mort; son, James Mitchell (Jo) Mort;  five grandchildren, Jess (Jerod) Flaherty, Wes (Kayla) Mort, Katie Mort, Kieran Mort, and Jenna Mort; six great-grandchildren, Grant Flaherty, Isla Flaherty, Louella Flaherty, Kenley Mort, Keegan, and Montgomery Mort.
