Mr. Martens was born and had lived his entire life in the same house. He farmed, raised and milked cows and was very active in Warren County Farm Bureau and 4-H.

He is survived by his wife, Martha; sons, Mark and Keith of Martensdale and Ernest and Wayne (Karen) of Indianola; daughter, Alice (Howard) Kulzer of Des Moines; sisters, Joyce Strempke of Albany, CA, Janet Kalal of Dearborn Heights, MI, and Mirney Wagner of Walla Walla, WA; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 3 step grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2– 8 p.m., Wednesday, November 9 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Memorials may be designated to his church or Warren County Health Services.
