Pearl A. Martens went into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Wesley Life Village in Indianola, IA. Visitation with family present will precede the funeral service at Overton Funeral Home, Indianola, at 10 am on February 14, 2025, with burial following at Linn Grove Cemetery, Prole, Iowa.

Pearl was born on July 22, 1924, to Charles and Abbie Monroe DeSotel in Monona, Iowa. She graduated from Monona High School in 1941 and from Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines in 1948.

She was united in marriage to Melvin H. Martens on September 25, 1949. They were blessed with four daughters: Karen, Norma, Nancy, and Mary. Pearl was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband Melvin of 68 years, her parents, one brother, and two sisters.  She is survived by Karen and Ron Larson, Norma and Roger Erickson, Nancy and Ted Van Zant, and Mary Porter, four grandchildren: Stacey, Neil, Karl, and Anna, six great-grandchildren: Luke, Abigail, Levi, James, Dorothy, and Evelyn, and one great-great-grandson, Siegfried.
