Pauline Irene Benge was born in Indianola, Iowa to John and Senith Benge.  After her mother's early passing, raised by her sister Blanche and generous brother-in-law Virgil Nicholson.  Closest lifelong friend was her late niece Martha Crook.  Married Perry Davidson in 1945; their daughter Vicki was born in 1949 in Des Moines.  Followed husband's pipe welding trade to California, where son David Lee and daughter Lauretta were born.

In addition to taking great pride in raising her kids and being a homemaker, Pauline also worked alongside her husbands in several ventures:  with Perry T. Davidson in union and Democratic Party political events, with Donald Morris running his jewelry and gun store, and with Russ Murawski in their dental lab in Paradise, California.  She was a lifelong master at crossword puzzles and confident enough to proudly use a pen.  She enjoyed squaredancing for a number of years, and also enjoyed fond memories of trips to Europe and to Hawaii.  Pauline also loved reading and playing board games, and shared those loves with her children and grandchildren.  She returned to Iowa many times over the years to visit her relatives, especially her dear niece Martha Crook, and cheered on her Cubbies in person when she could (a highly optimistic pursuit at the time), even braving tornado warnings to get to the ball park.

Pauline never got over the loss of her own mother early in her childhood, and it was her wish to be returned to her mother in Indianola at the time of her final rest.

Pauline passed peacefully in Concord, California on December 22, 2015.  Survived by children Vicki (Steve) Lopez, David Lee Davidson, and Laurie (Francisco) Montes; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by her grandson Kevin Leveille.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 6 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Pauline's children are very grateful to the Benge and Nicholson families for all their kindness and generosity.  Thank you so much for being there when she needed you.
