Services for Opal Pauline Clendenen, 103, who passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018 at home, will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Barker Cemetery, Downing, MO.  The visitation will be held prior to services from 9 to 10 a.m.

Pauline was born August 23, 1914 in Promise City, Iowa, one of eleven children born to Willie and Celia (Lasley) Hayes.  She was united in marriage to Robert Clendenen on February 23, 1935 and were married for 53 years at the time of his death.

She was an avid gardener who could grow anything.  She was an extremely talented quilter and all around crafter.

She is survived by her children, Jerry Clendenen, June (Dave) Merzanis, Karen  Riffle and Karol (Dave) Goss; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; and sister, Arvida Jones.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Clendenen, her parents Wilie and Celia Hayes, seven brothers and two sisters.
