Paul served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Upon his discharge, he attended college and began teaching. He was a assistant principal in Nurenberg, Germany, and principal in Stuttgart, Germany and then worked for the Iowa State Department of Education where he was assistant director of instructional and curriculum, retiring after 22 years of service in 1987. At this time he moved to North Ft. Myers from Indianola.
Paul was a past member of the Indianola Kiwanis and First United Methodist Church in Indianola.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carol L. Spurlock; children, James (Gayla) Spurlock, Paula Singleton, Peggy Spurlock, Andreas (Suzanne) Spurlock and Steven (Desiree) Spurlock; brothers, Charles Spurlock and David (Helen) Spurlock; sister, Nancy (Dean) Haddock; grandchildren, Seth, Sarah, Amanda, Brittany, Samantha, Sabrina, Steven and Cameron. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara in 1961.
Visitation will be held 6 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2006 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.
Memorials may be given to the Endowment Fund of the North Ft. Myers United Methodist Church, 81 Pondella Rd., North Ft. Myers, FL 33903.
