IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patrick "Casey"
Kellogg
June 26, 1965 – August 27, 2023
Patrick Casey Kellogg, 58, of West Des Moines, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 27, 2023. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Lutheran Church of Hope 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, IA 50266. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Overton Funeral Home 501 West Ashland Ave. Indianola, IA 50125. A private family inurnment of cremains will be held in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Born June 26, 1965, at the U.S. Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to John and Ruth Kellogg, Casey, whose first name was actually Patrick "just in case he ever became President," was a natural-born leader and talented athlete, often throwing, catching and hitting ambidextrously. He grew up in Greencastle IN, Mitchell, SD and Forest Hill, MD before moving to Indianola, IA during the 7th grade for his final time as the new kid on the block.
In high school, he was a four-sport athlete and Team MVP, All-Conference and All-State in football and baseball, in the National Honor Society, Senior Class President, and was presented the American Legion Leadership and Citizenship Award. He was later inducted into the Indianola Athletics Hall of Fame.
He went on to be a football starter and letter-winner at Augustana College (NCAA Div II) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His football career was cut short due to multiple concussions. He went on to play varsity baseball at Simpson College as an outfielder, where he made amazing memories with his teammates, who turned into lifelong friends and some of his best golfing buddies. He was also a proud member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
After earning his Bachelor of Arts in Communications, he spent his early career at Norwest Home Mortgage. Casey's love of the game of golf and the freedom of being on the road again led him to what would be a dream job of becoming a Professional Tour Caddie for several pro players, such as tour champion Ryuji Imada.
The duo traveled to Japan, China, Hawaii, and a myriad of top-rated golf courses…even making a stop at "The Granddaddy of Them All," the Masters in Augusta, Georgia. Throughout his extensive caddie career, Casey had multiple PGA Tour, Nike Tour, and Web.com Tour wins.
Casey honed his travel skills and abilities to "magically show up" using all the hotel and airline apps in his arsenal. His favorite place to travel was Bethany Beach, Delaware, with his girlfriend, Betsy, for the yearly Clark family reunions, complete with surf, sand, sun, blue crabs, and nightly family ice cream stops.
He also enjoyed traveling to watch his nieces and nephews participate in their sports and activities, often being the first to arrive and the last to leave. He was an avid Browns, Indians, Cubs and Hawkeyes fan, too.
Casey was known as a kind and caring soul who always put family and friends above all else. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He will stay in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his father, John Kellogg of Indianola; sisters, Kirsten Kellogg of Dallas (Rhett, Reese), Corinne Seiser of Waukee (husband Robin, Paige, Kenna, and Brock); and girlfriend, Betsy Yates; aunts Mary Martin (Roger), Katherine Gugulis (Michael); uncles Timothy Clark Sr., William Clark (Carol), and Frank Clark Jr. (Kimi-Scott); cousins Julie Martin (Jim) and children, Bob Martin, Jr. (Tracy) and children, Emily Coyne (Brendan) and children, Anne McFadden (Chris) and children, Tim Jr., Todd Clark and children, and Kerrigan, Regan and Caitlin Clark.
Casey was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Kellogg (whom he adored); grandparents, Gertrude and Frank Clark Sr. and grandparents, Helen and Harold Kellogg; uncle, Bob Martin, Sr.; and cousin, Teresa Clark.
Memorial contributions in memory of Casey, may be made to the Simpson College Baseball Program.
