Obituary

Patricia was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Dr. Howard and Dorris Cosford on October 1, 1932. She graduated from Omaha Central in 1950 and went on to get her physical education degree at Omaha University. As a sophomore at Omaha University, she was chosen as the First College World Series Queen in 1953.

She married Larry Johnson on May 27, 1955 and they moved to Indianola in 1963.  After completing her elementary degree at Simpson College, she was a teacher for twenty years for the Indianola Community School District, teaching at Hawthorne, Emerson and Whittier. She was a loving teacher who touched the lives of many students who still remember her wit and caring personality. She was a member of chapter BP P.E.O. and the First Presbyterian Church of Indianola.

Patricia passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Westview Care Center in Indianola at the age of 88 years old.

Survivors include her daughter Kimberly (Mike) Hays of Macomb, IL and their children Bryan, Tucker (Danielle) and Kathryn; son Edward (Stacey) Johnson of Indianola and their children Trey, Teyt and Tyce. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, sister Marilyn Greenleaf, her parents.

Private family services will be held Sunday, February 28, 2021.  Friends may join the family on our Live Stream beginning at 2 p.m. on Pat's obituary page of Overton Funeral Home's website.  Memorial contributions may be made to any Library of your choice or by doing something special for someone dear to you.
