Patricia Jean Garrett, 73, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, April 8 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the IOOF Cemetery in Indianola. Visitation will be held 9 to 11 a.m. prior to service on Monday at the funeral home. Patricia was kind, sweet, selfless, she was the most caring person anyone would ever meet. She loved to watch the hot air balloons in Indianola and was a volunteer for many years. She was a cheerleader for all of her kids and grandkids, no matter what, you could always hear her rooting them on. She was very excited to be a grandma again to a baby named Gabriel. Although they will never meet, she is sure to have a close bond just as she does with her other grandchildren. Patricia worked for over 25 years at CDS is Des Moines and made many friends there. When she retired from CDS, she became a professional grandma, which she loved. She has always loved David beyond measure. Sometimes she could be hard on him, but it was always out love. Patricia was the root of the family and held them all together. She always made sure everyone was taken care of. She enjoyed watching all of her grandkids succeed, they were one of her greatest joys in life! Patricia was loved by so many people. She will live on in all of us and will never be forgotten. "It's not Goodbye Mom, it's see you later!" Patricia is survived by her husband, David; children, Amy McAninch, Sharla (Marcus) Minnis, Cory (Jenny) Reeves; grandchildren, Kelsea, Ethan, Shelbey, Makayla, Jaxson, Gabriel, Sayde, Hannah, Zander, Zaiden; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Aurora; siblings, Debra Marchant, Terri Lettington; and many nieces and nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Martha Hicks; nephew, Nick Marchant. Memorial contributions, in Patricia's name, may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
