IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Pamela Anne
Gavin
January 8, 1943 – August 27, 2019
Pamela Anne Gavin passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Cedar Valley Hospice in Waterloo, Iowa.
Pam was born January 8, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa, daughter of Ralph J. and Wilma Mauer Smith. She married Dr. Bernard J. Gavin on November 23, 1963 in St. Marys, Iowa.
Pam graduated from St. Joseph's Academy, Des Moines and worked for Mercy Hospital before marriage. While Ben attended ISU veterinary school Pam worked in the Veterinary Anatomy and Parasitology Department and MacFarland Clinic. Once Ben graduated veterinary school they moved to Anthon, Iowa. Soon after, Ben purchased the veterinary practice in Wellsburg, Iowa, where they have called home for 52 years.
Pam was the perfect wife for a veterinarian with her love of animals, especially dogs and cats. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Eldora, Iowa and past president and a lifetime member of the Eastern Iowa Veterinary Medical Auxiliary. She loved shopping and traveling. Pam deeply loved West Lake Okoboji. She spent many summers there with family and friends from birth. She loved to cook and could put together a fabulous meal in no time. She cherished spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
One of her greatest traits was the quiet, behind the scene acts of kindness. If she saw or heard of a need, she would help if possible.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard Gavin; children, Tamara Gavin Boyd (David); Scott Gavin (Kristie); Todd Gavin (Julie); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother.
