Orvil D. Groves, 74, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 3, 2007 in Des Moines. Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 6 at the Osceola Assembly of God Church of which he was a member and burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Indianola.

Orvil was born in Earlham, IA and had worked as a steel fabricator for Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel for 13 years. He then worked for IBM (International Business Machines) and retired as a programmer after 25 years. He also enjoyed being a Director for NABI...(National Amateur Bowlers Inc) and running Bowling tournaments in Central Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Betty Jo (Jon) Duncan of LaQuinta, CA, Cindy Slater of Johnston, Dan Groves of Smithfield, NC, Todd Weese of Des Moines, Tom (Stacy) Weese of Youngsville, NC, and Troy Weese of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Eldon (Flora) Groves of Milo; sister, Anne Marie (Bob) Bryant of Council Bluffs; sisters-in law, Beverly Groves of Corydon and Connie Groves of Des Moines.

Visitation will be held 4 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present from 6 – 8:00 p.m. to greet friends. Memorials may be given to his church.
