IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Norman Deloss
Crawford
September 27, 1948 – March 4, 2026
Memorial Service
Norman Deloss Crawford was born September 27, 1948 in Chariton, Iowa the son of Deloss and Alberta (Birchard) Crawford and passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at home at the age of 77. The family lived on a small farm until the passing of his grandmother in 1955 at which time they then moved in with his grandfather and stayed until his death in 1962.
Norman graduated from Chariton High School in 1966 and then went on to study and graduate from Iowa State University in 1971, with a degree in chemical engineering. Norman worked at Dow Chemical for a time, and moved on to various jobs, including a ranch hand in Montana before moving to the state of Washington. While there, he met and married Sheri Ann Johnson on July 12, 1980, and they worked together to build a log cabin home. Norman worked at Tacoma Public Utilities in the electronics warehouse, and retired in 2012.
Following his divorce from Sheri, he moved back to Indianola, Iowa, where he lived until his death. Norman attended the Assembly of God church in Norwood each week, where he taught Sunday school.
Norm was never more at home than on the farm, where he found true peace in the simple joys of life. He loved the farm life, the chorus of the chickens made him feel at peace, the energy of the piglets he loved so much, and the constant, loyal companionship of his miniature dachshund, Punkin. Norm loved to travel. He enjoyed trips to China, Russia, Turkey, Philippines, and Thailand. He enjoyed the elephant camps, fishing excursions and was very fond and had a great love for the children in the orphanage.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Norman will be remembered as a kind and caring person who would go out of his way to help someone in need. He is survived by many cousins and countless friends.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2026 at The Assembly of God Church of Norwood in Lucas, Iowa. Memorials may be made in memory of Norman to Hope for the Family Orphanage in Thailand.
