Funeral services for Norma E. Smith, 63, who died Tuesday, January 18, 2005, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 21 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Bethel Chapel Cemetery in Clarke County.

Born in Buffalo, Missouri, Norma graduated from Osceola High School and lived in the Indianola area since 1962. She worked in housekeeping for the Indianola Good Samaritan Center for 12 years. She was a member of the Indianola Christian Union Church and loved crafts, pumpkins, gardening and her God.

She is survived by her husband, Lavere of Indianola; three children, Dennis of Sigourney, Lori (Christopher) Calkins of Ankeny, and Gary (Teresa) of Des Moines; brothers, Don Smith of Apache Junction, AZ, Billy Smith and Jim Smith of Des Moines; sister, Sue Hoyt of Indianola; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20 at the funeral home, where the family will be present 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indianola Christian Union Church.
