Norma was born on January 17, 1933 to Heath Boyd and Mildred (Clingenpeel) Boyd, raised on the East side of Des Moines, and graduated from East High in 1951. She worked for the telephone company before marrying James Arthur Renes on December 2, 1955. This union was blessed with three children, Jennifer Jean Middleswart, Tammi Rae (Mitchell) Woolsey both of Indianola, and Randy James Renes of Panora.

Norma and James farmed, raised dogs, and grew Christmas trees in rural Warren County. Norma enjoyed taking care of her home and children, and always enjoyed a good conversation. She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, bowling, crossword puzzles and traveling.

In addition to her children she is survived by a brother, Vernon (Joan) Boyd of Sioux Falls, SD.; Jennifer's children, Adam (Ashley) Thompson and Amanda Middleswart; and Mitchell's son, Nathan Woolsey; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James; her brother, Lyle Boyd; and her sisters, Judith Scott and Cindy Jacobs.

Visitation will be held 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday, April 2 at Overton Funeral Home where there will be a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to the family in her name.
