Obituary

NORMA "DIANE" MILLER Indianola On January 8, 2012, Norma "Diane" (McGinnis) Miller joined her heavenly family at the age of 75. Diane was a compassionate and devoted woman. The constants of her life were her love of family, friends, pets and her passion for sewing. Her dedication and love held her family of five children together through six relocations across the country. Through the years, Diane's heart remained with her hometown Indianola, IA. In 1995 Diane and her husband of 55 years, Len Miller, happily returned to her hometown never to leave again. Diane began most of her days with her cherished "coffee friends" at the Hy-Vee, after she took care of her beloved cats, Izzy and Sassy and frequent visitor Sylvester. Most will remember her love of animals, evident in the many Hy-Vee receipts she gathered for the Kiya Koda Human Society and her loyalty and excitement for Iowa State Fair having not missed a year in more than 40 years. Diane is survived by her husband, Len; her children, Karla, Randy (Mara), Tim (MaryJo), Cheryl, Gloria (Chad) Schettler; her six grandchildren, Audrey, Kelly, Laura, Josie, Carly and Calvin; and her feline companions, Izzy and Sassy. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Helen McGinnis. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 11 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1202 West Iowa, Indianola, with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the St. Thomas Pastoral Center, Hwy 92 West, with family present to greet friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. A Vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pastoral Center. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Diane to Kiya Koda Humane Society or the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation's "Block by Block" program.
