Norbert was born October 16, 1930 in Afton, Iowa and became a resident of St. Marys in 1942 remaining there for the rest of his life. He graduated from St. Marys High School in 1950 and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post #716, Knights of Columbus, and the St. Marys Fire Department. He worked for Massey Ferguson in Des Moines as well as the Warren County Secondary Roads Department.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Frueh; daughters, Bonnie Reed-Richtsmeier, Brenda Tyler and Barb Schanel; son, Bill Frueh; step-daughters, Dawn Hutt and Kelly Manchester; step-son, Rod Hutt; many grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Hill, Loretta Petersen and Virginia Basler; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and five brothers.
Visitation will be held 3 – 8 p.m., Monday, October 6 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
