Nicolas Ryan Johnson, 48, of Ankeny, Iowa, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2026. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Swede Home Cemetery, Stromsburg, Nebraska.

Nicolas was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life and in making the most of every opportunity. He had a love for travel and enjoyed exploring beautiful places, including St. Maarten, Arizona, California, and Hawaii. Of all the places he visited, the Caribbean held a special place in his heart.

Nicolas had a deep love for animals, especially cats. His compassion extended beyond the animals he knew personally, and he generously supported the Animal Rescue League (ARL).

He also had a passion for motorcycles. He proudly owned a V-Rod Muscle and a Street Glide Harley-Davidson, and he loved the freedom and adventure that came with riding.

Nicolas was naturally gifted with his hands and could figure out how to make, fix, or work with just about anything. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity through the years and took pride in being able to do things himself having a knack for working with his hands that was truly one of a kind.

Above all, Nicolas will be remembered for the things that brought him happiness, the passions he shared with others, and the lasting memories he created with the people and animals he loved.

Nicolas is survived by his parents, Jerome and Debra Johnson; brother, Jaret (Tavi) Johnson; two nieces, Rowen and Faith Johnson; uncles, Kevin (Christy) Johnson, Michael (Barbara) Johnson, Ronald Chappell, Gary Chappell; many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; uncle, Roderick Johnson.
