Nick retired after 33 years of teaching in 2008 from the Southeast Warren School District.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Nathan Dicks of Iowa City, Geoffrey Dicks of Trophy Club, TX, Jessica Dicks of Urbandale and Ashley Spence of Indianola; parents, Paul and Phyllis Dicks of Marshalltown; grandmother, Glennie Dicks of Centerville; sister, Fonda Hopp of Marshalltown; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 3 at Indianola Community Church where family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. to greet friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family in his name for a memorial to be determined at a later date.
