Services for Neva B. Hawkins, 94, who passed from this world into eternity on Thursday, May 24, 2007 surrounded by her loved ones at the Taylor Hospice House, will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 30 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Neva was born September 29, 1912 in Indianola to Lillie and Wesley Lawrence. She married Virgil C. Hawkins on January 13, 1931 and to this union were born two daughters, Edna Mae and Geroldean. Neva spent her early years traveling throughout the United States with her husband when he was constructing highway systems. For the last fifty-five years, Neva lived in Indianola. She became a Christian at the age of seventy-six and was looking forward to joining her husband in heaven who preceded her in death in 1998. Neva was also preceded in death by her son-in-laws, Merrill Gripp and Gary Whitlatch.

Neva is survived by her daughters, Edna Gripp of Indianola and Jerry Whitlatch of Chariton; grandchildren, Rick and Debbie Gripp of Creston, Kevin and Rhonda Gripp of Indianola, Debbie and Greg Blake of Greenville, SC, Kathy and Gregg Terrell of Iowa City, Tim and Julie Whitlatch of Russell, Marilyn and Tom Roth of Norwalk; eighteen great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6 – 8 p.m. to greet friends. Memorials may be given to the Indianola Fire and Rescue Department.
