Services for Nellie Mae McCarty, 88, who died Friday, May 15, 2009, at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center, will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 19 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. A funeral luncheon will be held 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the Lineville Community Center with graveside services following at 2:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville, Iowa.

Nellie was born February 16, 1921 to Robert and Iona (Gibson) Cox in Mercer County, MO. She was united in marriage on February 15, 1948 to Cloyd McCarty. She was a homemaker and lived in Wayne County until 1985 when she and Cloyd retired and moved to Indianola. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, doing puzzles, reading and collecting bells.

She is survived by her husband, Cloyd McCarty; daughters, Pat (Jerry) Jones, Diane (Richard) Adair and Barb (Terry) McMurry; grandchildren, Dacni Gabel, Delana Ahmad, Denika Almburg, Tally Winkleman, Laci Sinn, Sammi Fulmer, Gibson McMurry and Lincoln McMurry; and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother, J.A. Gibson; and sister, Mary Robinson.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 18 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Indianola or the Evergreen Cemetery, Lineville, Ia.
