Funeral services for Nancy Eloise Cornell (Stewart), 79, who passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 in Des Moines, will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Ackworth Cemetery, Ackworth, IA. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service on Wednesday.

Nancy loved to go on Sunday dinners at her mom and dad's.  Being with her family and spending time with her nieces and nephews was important to her.  Nancy had a big heart!!! She was selfless, always putting other people ahead of herself.  Nancy adored her parents, caring lovingly for them in the twilight of their lives.

Nancy was a loving mother who devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed being a Den Mother for Cub Scouts and supported all of her children in 4-H.

She drove all over southern Iowa cheering for her sons at baseball games each summer.  She would load up the pickup bed with neighborhood kids and take us to the swimming pool in Leon.  In the winter, we would go to the upstairs roller rink in Chariton.

Nancy was a wonderful grandmother; visiting school on Grandparents Day, attending music and band concerts, and cheering again at countless sporting events.

She loved to babysit! Everyone wanted to go to Sunday dinner at Grandma's house after church.  She was a "real home" cook often cooking food she had grown in her own garden (remember the never ending green beans?).

Nancy was a member of the Nazarene Church for over 50 years.  She taught Sunday school and vacation bible school.  She liked to have us there for church holidays and special events.

She is survived by her children, Susania Ernst, James (Cathy) Cornell, Christopher (Libby) Cornell, Melody Cornell; grandchildren, Sarah (Dylan Walther) Ernst, Michelle (Nate) Arends, Devin Cornell, Janie (Jeremy) Taft, Emily Cornell, Joe (Jamie) Quick, Caden Quick; great-grandchildren, Silas Arends, Alena Arends, Ellie Walther; siblings, Lawrence (Pam) Stewart, Fred Logan, Richard (Judy) Stewart, Audrey (Gary) Morris, Jerome (Terri) Stewart, Lillian (Steve Mathews) Stewart; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Lawrence D. and Helen Stewart; sister, Delilah Logan; nephew, Rick Stewart.

Strength and honor were her clothing;… She lookethed well to the ways of her household,.. Her children rise up and call her blessed;…
