Services for Myrtle Louiza Mitchell who passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018, will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 5 at the Truth Assembly of God Church, Chariton, IA with burial following in the Fry Hill Cemetery, Lucas, IA.

Myrtle was born on December 31, 1932, at 8 p.m. in the family home to Bertie Hobert and Ethel Marie (Hill) Spoon.  She was the tenth born of 12 children, seven boys, and five girls.  At the age of 24, she married Leo C. Mitchell of Lucas, IA.

Gone before her, are her husband, parents, six brothers, three sisters, one grandson and two great-granddaughters.  She leaves behind her children Matthew (Anita) Mitchell, Timothy (Coleen) Mitchell, Martha (Steve) Smith, Brice (Luchell) Mitchell and Naomi (Charles) Conto, 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, siblings, Manuel Spoon, Ethel Bolio, and George Spoon.

She was saved at the age of 12 and received the baptism at the age of 14 and the baptism of the Holy Ghost at the age of 16.  She served God from then until she couldn't get to church and for a while, she didn't always live as close to God as she should have.  Whenever there was trouble she always took it to God.

Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 4 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Truth Assembly of God Church in Chariton.
