IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Dale
Reynolds
October 19, 1961 – January 8, 2020
Services for Michael Dale Reynolds, 58, who passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020, in Des Moines, will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Palmyra Cemetery.
Michael Dale Reynolds was born on a beautiful autumn day. He grew up on the farm that several generations of the Reynolds family had before him. He loved it.
He was an animal lover from dogs, horses to baby coons. He also loved the sport of wrestling; continuing many years from wrestling to then volunteering his time. He graduated from Carlisle High School in 1980 and then on to Ellsworth Jr. College on a wrestling scholarship. He began helping his dad farm and when Jiggs could no longer continue because of health, Mike committed fulltime. Good neighbor, Allen Bruce, was always there to help. After many years of driving a bulk mail truck, Mike decided it was time to give that up. He gradually bought new equipment and was so proud.
Mike restored the old farm buildings, built a beautiful pond, and improved the land. It was hard work, but it was a labor of love.
All through Mike's life, there was always a dog; whether it was Charlie the three-legged dog, Bear the biter, or gentle Major. Then along came Rebel. He went everywhere with Mike. He rode in the combine over every acre of corn and beans.
Mike was a man of his word, liked to work, was honest, frugal, and loved to play, but only if the work was done. He was meticulous about his machinery and its care. God decided he had worked hard long enough and called him home to rest.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Edwin "Jiggs" Reynolds; and two sets of grandparents he loved, Don and Margaret Reynolds and Harry and Mae Marsh. He leaves behind his mother, Pat; older brother, Jack Reynolds; sister, Susan Reynolds; uncle, Scott James and wife Bev; nephew, John Sautter; niece, Errin Hale; and his loyal companion Rebel.
Visitation will be held prior to services on Tuesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Carlisle Wrestling Program or the Palmyra Church Restoration Fund.
