Matthew Lee Burns, 48, passed away on June 18, 2025. He was born on December 27, 1976 to Rex Burns and Laura Foster. Matt graduated from East High School and attended Simpson College for a short time after. He secured a job working as a Software Developer for Wells Fargo during his time there.

In 2005, Matt married Katherine Sue Leinen. Together, they had four sons: Samuel, Benjamin, Henry, and Jack. Matt loved his children and worked tirelessly to do whatever he could for them.

In life, Matt always made sure to save time for hobbies. He could often be found jamming on guitar, casting a line on a lake, playing video games, dominating at backgammon, or watching a funny movie. More than anything, he loved his children and made sure to spend as much time with them as he could. He shared his hobbies with his children who will all carry them on.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dick and Patricia Foster and Jerald and Shirley Burns, as well as his aunt Patty Foster. He is survived by his four favorite boys: Sam, Ben, Jack, and Henry Burns; his mother, Laura Foster; his father, Rex Burns; his ex-wife, Katie; his sister, Kristina; his girlfriend, Holly Summers; and his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be missed dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be set at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory for his children and sent in care of Overton Funeral Home.

Matthew will be remembered by his sense of humor, his kindness, his strength, and his love. He will be missed by all who knew him.
