Born in Des Moines, he was a 1995 graduate of Indianola High School and was presently a student at the University of Iowa. He was a self-employed Landscape Contractor in Iowa City.

Surviving are his mother, Vicky (Kenneth) Rasser of Rancho Cordova, CA; father, Randy (Tina) Zook of rural Indianola; brother, Jake (Nichollette) Zook of Omaha, Nebraska; half-brother, Chad Sepich of Indianola; maternal grandmother, Florence Ten Hagen of Indianola; and paternal grandmother, Marian Zook of Des Moines.

Visitation will be held 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, at Overton Funeral Home, where family will be present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to Uptown Bill's Small Mall in Iowa City.
